Weather Here

Spring Saturday
April 18, 2009

Been awhile. My friend Janet asked me in email if I had been blogging, and I realized that the past several days (maybe two weeks?) have been full of other things, mostly family issues, along with a visit to the doctor, which always takes the wind out of my sails a bit.

I haven't been in a mindset for blogging, and I don't want that to happen very often.

After a long, extended Winter, Michigan is being blessed with perfect Spring weather. Yesterday, the temperature was in the high sixties, and today, we're supposed to see seventy-five degrees with plentiful sunshine. It's hard not to be inspired with weather that delightful. Of course, we're supposed to get showers the next five days, along with cooler temperatures, but it's all part of the mix, and I love it.

I'm still brainstorming ideas for a scrapping blog. I have just about decided upon a name for it. I'm not sure when I'll get it up and running. I might spend some time coming up with ideas on paper this weekend, especially if Daniel and I can steal away to a quiet table at our favorite Starbucks sometime tomorrow and drink mocha and watch it rain and indulge in putting actual pen (in his case, pencil) to paper.

There's something so different about handwriting vs. typing on a computer screen.

And speaking of typing, I've been working diligently on typing handwritten scenes of a novel I worked on in mid-2007 into Pages documents, editing some as I go. There is some good raw material, and I like the story, but there's a lot of work to do before I would let anyone read it. Strangely enough, writing about one of the secondary characters is much easier, the prose much richer and authentic, than when I write about the main character. I'm not sure why. Daniel asked me last night if it were the secondary character's story. I don't think so, but her character is much more established, I think. I can see her more clearly in my imagination.

I am astounded repeatedly by how quickly time seems to be passing this year. April's more than half over, and I keep thinking it's still March! We are in the process of deciding what to do about siding for our house. We are still in the process of organizing and preparing for a garage sale, which will probably happen sometime in May, though if it's warm and sunny next weekend, that might be the opportunity we need to seize as May is shaping up to be busy, busy, what with LOAD starting up again and Mega Meet and a visit from an out-of-town guest.

And then it will be Summer already.
