Goodness on the Summer Solstice
June 20, 2008

Been reading some of the archived posts of Cathy Zielske's blog tonight. I took her book, Clean and Simple with me today, browsed through it for inspiration at Biggby's Coffee in Novi this afternoon while I waited for 4:45 to roll around, time to pick Daniel up from work.

Love Cathy's style, not just in scrapbooking, but the way she talks about life. She is one of those people you just long to meet in a cafe and talk until the wee hours of the morning. And she's freaking hilarious, too. Makes me laugh out loud frequently.

Welcome Summer

Today is the Summer Solstice, the first day of Summer, also known as Midsummer and Litha. In celebration, I got some money from the ATM and visited a dozen or more garage sales. Found lots and lots of neat goodies. Baskets for storage options in the scrapbooking room. A couple of 1950's scrapbooks, the kind bound by a string through a couple holes in the front and back covers. The pages in both are not in good enough condition for use, but I'm going to come up with some way to use the covers. Also bought a couple books, one of which I plan to use for an altered scrapbook project. Oh, and a book for my mom from the American Girl series which has all kinds of neat pictures of stuff from the 1930's. I think she'll really dig it, and if not, she can pass the book along to my niece, Lyndsey.

Warm today, but a nice kind of warm. Totally loving the seasons here in Michigan. So distinct, so cyclical. Summer's not so bad when it doesn't last 9 or 10 months, when the temperatures rarely soar into three digits. Don't think this will ever be my favorite season, but it has its moments, and my very favorite season is next.

And it is on its way, but for now, I'm enjoying June. Right here, right now.

Goodness.
