Daniel and I are watching television. We get our news from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and both are covering the Republican National Convention.
Be scared, people. Be very scared.
One country music singer actually did a song called "Raising McCain," and I shudder to think what tatters this country will be in should Mr. McCain actually be raised to the Presidency.
So, I expressed my worry to my husband. I said, "It's like a fucking circus, isn't it?"
He said, "Except the circus packs up and leaves."
And speaking of Jon Stewart...
I've got to say that I'm a bit disappointed in him for his obvious admiration for Mike Huckabee, whom he interviewed tonight. It's not likely Stewart doesn't know that Huckabee wants to amend the Constitution to reduce religious freedom, since Stephen Colbert mentioned it when HE interviewed Huckabee the other night, and Jon is a producer for The Colbert Report.
While he might be somewhat well-spoken and friendly, Mike Huckabee is a fundamentalist Christian who has no respect whatsoever for the religious freedom of others. He sickens me, and it sickens me a little to see Jon Stewart, in turn, respect him.
